About Bret
Bret Carmichael is running to represent Dover residents as City Councilor At-Large. As a longtime resident of Dover, he has a history of civic service and volunteerism.
Bret is Chairperson of the Dover Utilities Commission, and he a member of the Dover Energy Commission. He is a Board Member and volunteers with Vouchers for Veterans, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that benefits veterans though food vouchers that they spend at local farmers markets.
Bret is a local business owner. He is an active Ambassador with the Dover Chamber of Commerce.

Experience
Bret Carmichael has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Colby-Sawyer College. After earning his degree, he worked as a Telecom Analyst for Cabletron Systems where he reduced telecommunications spend by more than $4 million a year. He spent a brief time at a technology startup and real estate law firm, before accepting a position at Liberty Mutual.
Bret worked for Liberty Mutual for 14 years, starting as an analyst. He transitioned to information technology, where he managed incident, problem, and change activity for a technology organization. He then facilitated organizational transformations, building capabilities across multiple teams, including; lean management, agile software development (scrum), DevOps, and Design Thinking.
Bret owns a Dover business, LEAP WORKS, where he helps businesses attract new customers though branding and design services, websites, and digital marketing.

Family
Bret is a Ward 4 resident. He lives in southern Dover with his wife, Jill. Their 13 year old daughter, Amelia, is a student at Dover Middle School.
